The Needles District of Canyonlands is a totally different section of Canyonlands National Park. It's a long drive from Moab (1.5 hours), but it is well worth it. The drive in alone is worth it. From Newspaper Rock, to the Six Shooter, you'll have lots of things to see.
The needles overlook which is 22 miles off the highway 191 is a visit well worth the journey. The outlook has been beautifully set out with a circular trail easily walked with a fantastic all round view of the Needles mountain range.
To fully appreciate Needles, you must take a hike. You will get rewarded with out of this world scenaries and solitude. You feel like one with the nature. You can not do Canyonlands unless you go to Needles District, specifically do The Joint trail, which is 11 miles of some of the best landscape in America. It is a quiet area with fantastic valleys and spires.
