a magnificent hollowed out sandstone dome with two arches
Looking Glass Arch is off the beaten path between Monticello and Moab.
Outside Moab stands a giant sandstone dome in the middle of the desert. It has a hollowed and overhanging southern face and a peculiar window opening on its western flank.
It’s a little bit of a steep climb up to the Arch, but it’s definitely doable without any kind of equipment. Once you are standing under the Arch, you can see that the back side opens into a large alcove.
